5 Favorite Things in Ireland

In the month of July I was able to study abroad in the beautiful country of Ireland. This isn't going to be a super detailed post like mine usually are, instead I'll briefly talk about why these places in particular were my favorite, and include lots of pictures!

1) Cliffs of Moher

Pretty much the top of everyone's list while visiting Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher are spectacular. We were also extremely lucky with the weather the day we went, which resulted in some great pictures. One tip: I would not recommend bringing small children. There are no safety bars (actually nothing at all) preventing you from falling off the cliff. I almost had a mini panic attack when a family was trying to take a picture of their babies/toddlers sitting on the edge.

2) Blarney Castle/ Cork

This wasn't included in our travel itinerary, but couple of my friends and I used our one free day to travel over here, and I'm so glad we did. Kissing the Blarney Stone and climbing the castle before hand is probably the scariest thing I have ever done, so I feel pretty accomplished for doing that. And also, the grounds and gardens are beautiful! There's even a poison garden which includes marijuana of all things and one plant in particular that can kill you just by touch. Cork was also beautiful, and St. Birr's Cathedral was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot, so I'm not just saying that.

3) Celtic Steps

I'm not going to go into detail on this one, just give you the link to their website. But this is a show in Killarney featuring  the original song and dance of Ireland, and I absolutely loved it. The singer's voice in the show is absolutely beautiful, and they've been running the show for many years now, so they definitely know what they're doing.

4) Dingle

Dingle is a little sea town on the Dingle Peninsula, another place which offers amazing views of the coast of Ireland. I wish we had spent more than just a few hours here, because it really is a cute little town. It's also home to the famous Murphy's Ice Cream, which although pricey; is definitely worth it. I highly recommend the flavor Sea Salt.

5) Bunratty Castle

A dinner show in which your only utensils are a dagger (steak knife) and a spoon for desert, this experience transports you back to medieval times complete with old folk tunes. Plus you get to eat dinner in an actual castle, so there's that.
